What is a Brownfield?

A brownfield is a property that may be complicated by the presence or potential presence of hazardous substances, pollutants, or contaminants. Cleaning up and reinvesting in these properties increases local tax bases, facilitates job growth, utilizes existing infrastructure, and improves and protects the environment.

About Our Program

The Orange County Brownfields Program is a partnership between OCIDA, the County, local municipalities, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to identify, assess, and redevelop brownfield sites throughout the county.

Our program aims to transform underutilized properties affected by contamination into productive community assets that support economic growth and improve environmental health.
